Legate Lucina Calidius, also known as the Purple Assassin, is the Imperial Legate and disputed founder (along with Julius Mede) and first Grandmaster of the Order of the Dragon Assassins during the events of The Elder Scrolls: Rebellion. She is also resided in either in her home of Haafinheim in Skyrim.

Background[]

After being deposed from the Ruby Throne by General Julius Mede and his legion, Marcella Varian, fearing that she might be captured after a brief house arrest in her quarters, she escaped the Imperial City and enter to Skyrim. The deposed Empress, now used the alias of Lucina Calidius and rather having letters her allies, including General Tullius and Legate Rikke that letting them know that don't mentioned her real name, while agree that while planning for taking the Ruby Throne back. During her brief and short exile, Jarl Elisif the Fair rewards Lucina, an manor mansion, called Haafinheim.

While using the alias, Lucina had chose a new background for her new name to try to hide her real name, is that Lucina is one of the most decorated legate of the Imperial Legion under the service of General Tullius and Potentate Julius Mede. Meanwhile, Lucina herself founded the Order of the Dragon Assassins, which disputed between Lucina and Julius Mede, which in reality, Lucina had founded the Order. As long as she didn't used her real name and while she is hiding in Skyrim, she used Lucina a reputation with the Legion, even though that Rikke and many others know that she is actually Marcella.

During the course of the Skyrim Civil War, she had a role, rather claims that either Lucina herself or Lucina, she been using her archery skills for her using, as well as using her sword for combat, but mostly using a bow. Lucina had resumed command during the last campaigns of re-taking Stormcloak fortresses before toking Windhelm, and defeating Ulfric Stormcloak, ending the civil war in Skyrim.

After the civil war, Lucina was revealed to be the deposed Empress Marcella Varian, and making her return to Cyrodiil and taking back her throne.

Personality[]

Lucina is strong, brave, but secretive.[1] She is expressed concerns about her plans to retook the throne, even with regret for mistakes she made in her past, including not going to Skyrim, as well not letting Julius Mede take the throne.[2] It also seems that she was never really able to leave her past and identity as Marcella Varian behind, which is further evidenced when she returns to re-take the throne, as well as her former life after the rebellion is ended.

Trivia[]

  • Along with Julius Mede, Lucina is disputing founded member of the Dragon Assassins Order, however Lucina, is actually the founder member of the Order Assassins to disputed the reign of Julius Mede.
  • During the start of the Overthrowing the Usurper, Lucina then confess that she is actually Marcella Varian herself, the deposed Empress.
  • When talking to Lucina, she is reference herself in third person, saying "I will bring back her Majesty Empress Marcella Varian on the Throne."
    • Even though that during the events of The Elder Scrolls: Rebellion is the alternative timeline, Lucina had said that she is friends with the Empress, even though that is she referred to herself, and in third person.
  • In the canon version, Marcella wielded Dragonbreath, however in the non-canon, she instead, wielded an Night Saber. After regaining the throne, she wielded the Imperial Knight Sword, a modified version of the Imperial Sword.
