Julius Mede, the Butcher and Warmonger, is now the Emperor. Because he got greedy of hateful of women ruling the Empire. I'm going to restored Marcella to the throne.

Potentate-Emperor Julius Mede, also known as Julius the Usurper,[3] and Julius the Warmonger,[4] and known officially as the Imperial Potentate,[1] is the Imperial who previously served as the former General of the Imperial Legion who later infamous when he overthrowing Empress Marcella Varian when she was in Skyrim, and Julius himself took over the Empire, and became the Emperor and Potentate. He is disputed founder of the Order of the Dragon Assassins, other is Marcella Varian. Julius created the Mede Conspiracy with the aim of removing Marcella, and put him on the Throne which succeeded.[1]

When the Varian Restoration broke out, Julius failed attempted to bring down riots in Bruma and the Imperial City. He then retreats to the White-Gold Tower, where he get into confronting and wounding his predecessor Marcella, before was killed by Marcella thus ending the rebellion and Marcella was restored to the throne.[5][1]

History[]

Early years and rise to power[]

His personal life is unknown, maybe an secret that Julius Mede tried to hide in the public but he was born in 4E 144.[2] Julius was the member of the Mede Dynasty, who rose to be an aggressive and unpopular General of the Cyrodiilic Legion. He is also the last surviving member of the Mede Dynasty, and either a son, grandson, or nephew of Antonius Mede, the Protonate of Cyrodiil.

Usurped the Ruby Throne[]

When Caius Varian died in 4E 199, he plan on usurping the Ruby Throne, but Uriel's niece Marcella ascended to the throne, which both of her parents Emperor Caius I and his wife Brelyna were both killed at the Battle of Grimpen Ward in The Pale, Skyrim in 4E 184. Throughout his two-year planning, Julius had assembled about thirty percent of the Legion to allegiance with him, few nobles as well. He also had plan of accusing Empress Marcella Varian of her grandfather, Reman Varian defeating the Mede Dynasty's last ruler turned tyrant Antonius Mede, and the Varian Dynasty as Usurpers.

Sometime during the ongoing Skyrim Civil War, Julius Mede had completed stressed and dispersed the Empress, who may his true personality against women as his rulers. While the Empress was prepared to travelled into Skyrim and before attacking of the Stormcloaks, Julius Mede marched into the capital of the Imperial City, stormed the White-Gold Tower and deposed Marcella Varian, while placing the deposed Empress on house arrest in her quarters, which she escaped. He also claimed to be the founder of the Cyrodiilic Assassin Order, but it's actually founder is his predecessor, who also had plans for her to re-took the throne which led an Crisis broke out in Cyrodiil. Having more issues and flustered which losing the Order under the leadership of Marcella.

Sometime after the civil war ended in Imperial victory, Julius unaware with Marcella's actions that General Tullius and Legate Rikke and other Cyrodiilic Legion as well as the Navy backed Marcella for her right to take back the throne from Julius, which the former Empress had the right thing to do and remained anonymous.

The Rebellion and Death[]

However the following year, the riots broke out in Bruma and the Imperial City, triggering the Varian Restoration. The records are lost of where his last remaining generals make the orders, before defeated by Marcella herself. Julius was mourned and angered when he heard the death of his second-in-command Ashtentus, crippling the Julius' forces. Julius gathered his remaining Legion and make their last stand in the Imperial City, however the city guards let Marcella and her legion in the city. Furiously, Julius waited until Marcella stormed the Palace, and then confronted by her. Then both Marcella and Julius had a duel, and during the near end of the duel, Julius managed to wounded Marcella, and attempted to execrated her before getting shouted upon by her thu'um, injuring Julius in the progress. Julius then failed attempted to grab his sword but failed by Marcella's bodyguard, Livia Salvian before Julius was killed by Marcella herself ending of the rebellion, and Marcella resumed her duties as Empress. She also redone much of Julius Mede's damage to the Empire, as well as his supporters were arrested for treason.[5]

Legacy[]

Many have seen Julius Mede as in a lifelong pursuit of power, fame, prestige, and glory. He respected the Cyrodiilic Emperors, and worked hard to preserve the Imperial culture. He deeply admired and wished to save his father's accomplishments, and spent a lot of time proving his claim to the throne. At the early days of his reign, most of the Imperial citizens believed by Julius himself that his predecessor was died, however still alive. He is remembered very much for his cruelty tyrant, and even manipulates the Imperial notability, military and citizens. Even his plans of taking all of Tamriel himself was interrupted by the Rebellion forces.

Personality[]

In his lifetime, Julius Mede is described as selfish, self-obsessed, self-seeking, and doesn't care or support no one, and had only care of himself. After taking the throne as Emperor and Potentate, he was well-known as being cruel, wrathful, paranoid, and power-hungry dictator. Julius Mede had a strong hatred towards the Aedra deities, and might worship a few or more of the Daedric Princes which considered Julius, a Daedric worshipper, and was worship Haidoneus, Boethiah, and Mehrunes Dagon. According to Livia Salvian, Julius is a warmonger who had an infamous reputation of hating his respected gender counterpart, which his motives of his overthrowing Marcella Varian to take the crown for himself.

His relationship with his subjects and Counts of the respected cities in Cyrodiil had become untrustworthy as the Counts/Countess knew that the Empress was alive in Skyrim. He also appears to be a masochist, as even of his visits of the Imperial City Arena to watch tournaments for his own pleasure and amusement, as he enjoys the pain and suffer. He has no respect for other monarchs in Tamriel, and the people living in Cyrodiil, the Imperials, which he only care for himself, and mocked his rivals with a mock-playful humor taunt. He is also had signs of psychopathy.

  • His motives on overthrowing Marcella Varian is the debate, maybe for his own fame.
    • Either Julius had a reputation of hating women, which led to his personal and early life (excepted his birth) is hidden.
  • Julius Mede name was based on the first name of Julius Caesar, a Roman statesman and general who become the last Dictator of the Roman Republic, and Medes (without an letter "S"), an ancient Iranian people who lived in an area known as Media.
  • His character had similar resemblance to Hiram Burrows, an external wiki, the main antagonist for the first two-thirds of Dishonored.
